Virgil Timothy Sutton
Dallas – Virgil Timothy Sutton, 54 entered into the gloriest city of all – Heaven on Palm Sunday, April 5th, 2020.
He was born in Gaston County on November 21, 1965 to the late Norman Virgil Sutton and Amy Lounell Elrod Sutton Horne.
He was a graduate of North Gaston High School. As a younger man, Virgil was a crack cocaine addict. But, after accepting Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, he was completely healed from that lifestyle. He went on to start the "Fresh Start Dependency Recovery" program (Celebrate Recovery) at Venture Church, where he impacted many lives. He was a faithful member of Venture Church.
Virgil was also an ordained deacon, ordained Associate Pastor, Sunday school teacher, sang in the choir, former youth director and a former member of Crisis Pregnancy Center of Gaston County. He worked at Freightliner as a UAW representative for over 26 years.
He enjoyed all types of music, trips to the beach and fishing. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and beloved grandson, Hoke Mitchell Sutton.
Left to cherish his memories includes his loving wife of almost 34 years, Donna Clemmer Sutton; his sons, Caleb Daniel Sutton and Timothy Mitchell "Mitch" (Holly) Sutton; his adored grandson, Hoke Mitchell Sutton;
his brothers, Jimmy Rimmer, Ricky (Diann) Rimmer, Tommy (Vickey) Rimmer and a sister, Sharon (Tommie) McIlwain; his mother in law and father in law, Don and Sandra Clemmer; sisters in law, Joy Clemmer and Phyllis (Ron Laffaye) Hattaway; his fur baby, Lottie; and a number of nieces and nephews….and many wonderful friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
